Unbox inclusion. Poland, Poznan, 2022.

“Unbox Inclusion” was a training course hosted and implemented by Logos. It happened from 28 of November to 6 of December in Poznan, Poland.

During the 9 inspiring days we managed to learn more about minorities and human rights in general, as well as build our own Escape Boxes! But, let’s start from the beginning..

On the first intense, but exciting day we got to know each other better, introduced the schedule of the next days and learned more about Logos. Then, we had a full day dedicated to human rights and minorities, which was highlighted by the visit to “Niewidzialna Ulica”, a social enterprise that is showing the life of people with visual disabilities. The next day we visited escape rooms and played escape boxes to understand the mechanics of the game and get some inspiration for the next, busy days. The last days were devoted to the theory of Escape boxes, and building our own games.

Needless to say, we managed to create 4 escape boxes, which we tested and presented at our open event, which was visited by more than 50 people!

Escape box №1.

Topic: Sexual Minorities

Name of the room: Adam is missing

Short description: The box aims to raise awareness about the dangers people from LGBTQI+ minority face and make people more empathic. The box is telling a story of Adam- a boy who decided to leave the country because of the discrimination he faced. While playing the box you will see what problems he faced, and learn more about the situation in different countries.

Escape box №3.

Topic: Disabilities

Name of the room: Mission Impossible

Escape box №4.

Puzzle of Diversity. Ceuta, Spain, 2022

"Puzzle of Diversity" is an training course about escape rooms that was held in Ceuta, Spain in November 2022.

It's been 4 years since we've returned to Ceuta with our innovative escape rooms. Ceuta is a unique autonomous city in Spain, located in Africa, and the distance is not a hindrance for us.

During an exciting week, the participants had the opportunity to get to know each other, visit various escape rooms, explore the city, and learn about the theory of puzzles.

Working together, they created three educational escape rooms on important social issues, including cyberbullying, inequality, and migrants' rights.

To showcase their hard work, an open event was held, and locals were invited to play the games and learn more about human rights.

This project was implemented by Logos with support of Erasmus+  programme.

Rational Room. Kolin, Czech Republic, 2022

The "Rational Room" training course was held in Kolin, Czech Republic in April- May of 2022 and it was a truly unforgettable experience.

Escape rooms for education: fair future without xenophobia. Poznan, Poland, 2021.

"Escape rooms for education: fair future without xenophobia" was a training course hosted and implemented by Logos. It happened on 21-28 of November 2021 in Poznan, Poland.

🎉
It was 9 fabulous days of learning and exploring. Let's sum up the outcomes of our hard work. During these days, we got to know a lot about each other and our countries, learned about European values and Erasmus+, conducted two open events, engaged with locals, and, of course, built 3 unique escape rooms with educational purpose on the topic of human rights and its violation.
As the dissemination of the project we had an open event with around 50 guests, who played escape rooms, made by participants and learned about important human right issues.

🧩Escape room №1.

🎯Topic: Domestic violence
Name of the room: Love makes a house a home
Short description: There are a lot of people all over the world who are experiencing domestic violence. Women, children, men, and others. But during pandemic times, this number rose even more. Thus, the project participants want to present an escape room that will help others see the problem closer than only from the statistics and numbers. In this game, you are supposed to be in the role of neighbors who have heard that something is going on in the house, and now they need to clarify what is happening while the husband is absent.

🧩Escape room №2.
🎯Topic: Freedom of speech
Name of the room: Independent speech
Short description: Violation of freedom of speech is one of today's biggest problems. Almost nothing threatens to democracy more. And our participants understood this topic perfectly. They created an escape room where you can experience which difficulties journalists face when they want to tell others. With the help of this room, players will gain knowledge about the freedom of sharing information, about the right of a person to express their personal position and view without fear of consequences.

🧩Escape room №3.
🎯Topic: Xenophobia
Name of the room: Birou de resedinte
Short description: Xenophobia is not something we hear about a lot. But actually, fear of foreign things is a widespread problem, even in the EU countries. Therefore, the main goal of the escape room, which participants wanted to deliver, is to show how xenophobia works in developed countries. And they nailed it. Open toolbox to know more details; we wouldn't like to spoil the scenario:)

Escape to diversity. Poltava, Ukraine, 2021

Escape to diversity is a project about escape rooms for educational purposes. At this training course, we gathered 20 youth workers, NGO activists and youth leaders to teach them how to use escape rooms for education.

This training course was funded by the International Visegrad Fund in 2020 and it took a long year for us to implement it. We had to deal with the coronavirus epidemic, travel restrictions and one of the trainers getting COVID on the last day before the activity. But we managed it!

Though our original intention was to do it in Kyiv, in the end, we implemented it in Poltava. This is a beautiful city with amazing people. Thanks to the professionalism of our organizers - Veronika Kurkina and Dmitriy Markov, the training course was implemented flawlessly.

The idea of the training course was similar to other training courses we made on this topic. Participants learned about escape rooms, went to play several of those to practice and then built 3 amazing rooms of their own.

On 23rd of May, we made an open event to invite locals to play the rooms that were made by participants and to promote ideas of inclusion, diversity and human rights. Event was attended by 25 people and together with training course participants, they played escape rooms over 15 times.

Toolboxes

Below you can find a short description of the rooms that participants built and links to toolboxes, that contain all needed information if you want to build one yourself. In case if you need help with constructing your own room contact us at [email protected] or find contacts of escape rooms designers in the toolboxes

Sürgünlik

This is an escape room that tells about the deportation of Crimean Tatars in 1944. Though being quite difficult emotionally this room was extremely interesting to visit and play. Players learned about facts and stories about the genocide of the Crimean Tatar nation.

Hata na tata

In this escape room, players will have a chance to think about equal distribution of family responsibilities, appreciate a woman's work as a mother, a wife and a working person. Understand difficulties and their effect on mental health.

Broadcast studio

Creators of this escape room worked on the important topic of religious understanding. Players will step into the shoes of journalists who need to stop the publishing of the discriminative article.

Boat ride

The educational goal of the room: create an environment for players to experience the refugee, create awareness about xenophobia.

What was it about?

We made training course “Escape game for your rights!” in Riga, Latvia, on 06-15 of May, 2019. Project was implemented by the team of Logos Latvia and Logos Poland and funded by Latvian National Agency.

At this training course we had 21 young leaders and NGO activists working with youth, on 8 days long training course. Our aim was to raise awareness about Human rights in such topics as refugees and immigrants, gender equality and domestic violence and special needs. This was realised through constructing Human rights escape room, as well as understanding how to use it as a learning tool in order to create similar projects on Human rights back at local communities by youth and NGO workers who work with young people.

Following objectives were set for the project:

  • To spread ideas of human rights protection among participants, partner organisations and guests of the training course,
  • Equip youth workers and NGO workers who work with young people with tools and knowledge on how to organise escape rooms, to implement human rights education to diverse target groups
  • To create working tools which can be used in local communities
  • Demonstrate that dealing with human rights can be done in various ways through providing participants with ideas and methods on non-standard approach to human rights education
  • Bring an understanding of current challenges in the HR area through providing concrete examples, ideas and theoretical knowledge during project
  • To develop a network of youth workers and NGO workers who work with young people in EU who are ready to use quest rooms on human rights by giving them an opportunity to practice this approach and creating a good atmosphere for connection between participants
  • To raise awareness of human rights topics relating to refugees and immigrants; gender equality and domestic violence; citizens with special needs.

How did it go?

This project was very special for us as it was the first training course that we implemented in Latvia by Logos Latvia. The training course was delivered by trainers Emir Shevkiiev and Marko Boyko and it was organised by Jekaterina Orlova and her team.

At the project, we had a chance to build rooms in the building in the centre of Riga. Our participants built 3 great escape rooms and we invited local people to come and play. At the open event we had around 30 guests, who had a chance to learn and play at the same time.

The rooms that participants built:

FIRED

The educational goal of the room is to highlight gender-based workplace discrimination/harassment and gender-biases.

Main goal for players during the game is to collect evidence that a company is participating in unlawful gender-based discrimination by sneaking into the company office. And to find the key to get out of there within one hour by finding the extra set of keys inside the room.

Desrever Rorrim Yxalag (Reversed Mirror Galaxy)

Educational goal of the room is to give participants the experience of entering a new “culture” and its difficulties: new language, weird logics, new symbols, new way to communicate and a lot of “bureaucratic” procedures. We expect that people will be move sensitive towards the newcomers and more helpful when requested.

Main goal for players during the game is to find the procedure to get asylum and fulfil all tasks to get the final permit.

Classroom of special needs

Educational goal of this room is to let players experience the limitations of a disability. To do this each players gets a random limitation - reduced vision, movement, hearing or touch.

Main goal for players during the game is to escape from the classroom. That is hard to do with all the limitations set by the room, but if players manage to work as a team they will succeed!

Below you can directly access toolboxes on the rooms made by participants
