💡Info about the project:

Be a part of Intercultural online debate and connect together in safe online facilitated dialogue to discuss issues that matter to us. Meet with new friends from foreign countries and learn under the guidance of trained Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange trainers. Perfect opportunity to work on your debate skills, to craft a powerful speech, and present yourself like a pro.

After the selection, you would become a member of one of the debate teams. Each debate features two teams of young debaters from the north and south of the Mediterranean who will learn and then present evidence to validate arguments for or against a motion chosen by the participants themselves. 
The session is hosted by a Debate Trainer, and the debates are moderated by the two Team Leaders of each team. 

After the Online Debates, Debate Team Leaders and their team members will meet again in the Post- Debate Dialogue session one week after the Debate, to reflect on the motions they debated.

All participants will be awarded an online badge for Debate Participants. These badges are EU recognised badges in the frame of the EU Commission project.

📌 Objectives:
☑️ practice of foreign languages
☑️ debate and dialogue techniques
☑️ promotion of common values of freedom, tolerance and non-discrimination.
☑️ soft skill development, including critical thinking and teamwork
☑️ advocacy impact

👨‍💻👩‍💻Participant’s profile:
- Aged 18-30 y.o.
- At least an intermediate level of English (or French or Arabic)
- Access to a computer, the internet and a headset
- Enthusiastic about advocacy and respectful debate
- Motivation and willingness to take an active part in the Youth Exchange

📣 What: European Solidarity Corps Opportunity
📅 When: any possible date to start for 10 months
🌏 Where: Riga Municipal Childrens Youth Center in Riga, Latvia

💡Project objectives:
During the project volunteers will be involved in daily activities of the Center by organizing various workshops for the youngsters of the Center (13 – 18 years old), like:
- Individual activities with youngsters from the Centers
- Creative workshops- Foreign language courses/discussion clubs (English or other languages)
- Fitness, sport activities workshops- Discussion clubs (different cultures; inclusion; motivation; etc.)
- National culture evenings / national food cooking workshops
- Other workshops / educational programs based on non-formal education, that volunteers would like to organize for the youngsters of the Center

The Municipal Childrens and Youth Center of Riga is a short-term and long-term institution for social care and social rehabilitation, which provides housing, full care and social
rehabilitation for orphans and children left without parental care from 2 to 18 years of age, in crisis as well as provide social and informative support for children at social risk groups.

👨‍💻👩‍💻Participant’s profile:
Youngsters aged between 19 and 30 years, residents of EU or non-EU countries:
- interested and ready to work with youngsters with fewer opportunities (orphans and children left without parental care)
- have basic knowledge of the English language (at least conversational level). Knowledge of the Russian language will be considered as a plus.
- previous experience in youth work and especially in work with youngsters with fewer opportunities (orphans and children left without parental care) will be considered as a
plus.

💴Finance
The project is financed by the European Solidarity Corps programme. During the project following expenses will be covered:
- travel from volunteers’ place of residence to Riga, Latvia and back (the amount is calculated by the distance calculator)
- accommodation
- medical insurance, provided by the Erasmus+ Programme
- food and pocket money
- visa costs
